51. The Catch-Up: Foodie Friday; Sunday Prep Day; Book Mark Me Monday; Tuesday Boozeday

Greetings readers!

Slacker blogger much, eh? Ah! I was planning on doing my catch-up post last night, but then I had a few things to do that were rather unexpected and time consuming. So, let's get down to business, shall we?

Foodie Friday/ Sunday Prep Day

As you know, on Sundays I prep for the week. Lately, I've been rather terrible at it. In order to stay on track fitness and nutrition-wise, I feel like this needs to be kicked into high gear. With that in mind, I looked to Pinterest for some sweet dinner ideas. Breakfast for me consists of a cappuccino (roughly 90 calories) and a banana (roughly 100 calories). Lunch is always a spinach-based salad, with chickpeas, olives, tomatoes, mushrooms, maybe some feta, chicken, purple cabbage, and some Italian dressing. Dinner is what's always up in the air and where I feel things can go awry, so planning is definitely helping!

Thursday I'm going out with my cousin; Fridays - Sundays I eat dinner at home with my parents.
Last night after work, I got my nails done, ran a time-consuming errand for my dad and then went to the grocery store. Side note: I should mention, I LOVE BREAKFAST!!! And I HIGHLY believe breakfast should not just be in the morning, but should be served all day. And moving on...  I had planned to get 1/4 lb of American cheese at the deli to make an egg sandwich, when I stumbled upon "Go Veggie!"

This cheese was superb! AND it's Lactose Free, Gluten Free, Cholesterol Free, AND only 40 calories per slice. Yup! I'm hooked! I also bought the cutest little egg pan for $7, grabbed some egg whites (mixed with cheeses) instead of plain old eggs, and then some Thomas' Lite English Muffins. My egg sandwich came to 250 calories. For sides I steamed broccoli (I got home to realize we don't have a veggie steamer in my apartment, so what did I do? I invented my own. I put a boiling pot of water on the stove, slid a colander on top with my veggies in that, and let it go at it till my veggies were cooked. Yup! Genius!... for the time being.) This was probably one of the best meals I've ever made and it's so simple. I'm officially only buying Go Veggie! cheese.

Plus, check out this sweet recipe that I'm going to do, probably next week since I'm hooked on my egg sandwiches:

Book Mark Me Monday!

As I mentioned in last week's post, one of my best-friends and I are OBSESSED with Dystopian novels, so once I was done with the Hunger Games AND Divergent series, I had to find something else. I started reading the "Matched" series:

I finished reading Matched, and moved onto Crossed only because I want to complete the series. I know that sounds awful, but I'm trying to figure out why it made it to the list "If you like the Hunger Games, you'll love these series." I have to admit, I'm liking Crossed much more than Matched. There's a lot more adventure in the second installment. I can see why Ally Condie had to make 3. It seems like the first one was simply setting you up and introducing you to this world, all of the behind-the-scenes/ back-story of it all, whereas in Crossed the reader sees how much the characters care for one another and how they'll do anything, or go anywhere to ensure their love. I'll keep you posted on how Crossed turns out.

Tuesday Boozeday

First and foremost, WHY is it only Tuesday?! Probably should state that I've never been a big fan of Tuesdays - it's my least favorite day of the week; however, starting next Tuesday I'll learn to enjoy them a bit more. Last year I started watching Twisted on ABC Family and Season 2 premieres next Tuesday!! YAY!!!!

I should be more thrilled with today, since I'm going out tonight with former co-workers. One of them is a die-hard Harry Potter fan, so I'll have to be sure to tell her about this fabulous site, which I found via Pinterest:

Every drink featured on that site is inspired by Harry Potter characters. Genius?! Yup, I think so! I'll have to also inform my cousin on Thursday, since she too is a die-hard fan. I'll let you know if we concoct one on our dinner date on Thursday ;)

48. The Catch-Up: Style Me Silly, Saturday; Sunday Prep Day; Book Mark Me Monday; and, Tuesday Boozeday

Greetings readers!

What are the odds that last week I was ranting and raving about how much I follow routines and stick to them, yet this week I can't hold onto one to save my life?! The workout routine and my blog routine went out the window. Not that you want to hear any excuses, but there are reasons for the two. Regarding the workout routine, I did my favorite Fight 2 Fitness routine on Sunday and now my ribs are incredibly sore, which is awesome because I know I worked my abs well, but breathing has been tricky. The blog routine went by the way side due to work being so overwhelming that by the time I get home, getting to the couch seems like I just ran a full marathon. When you don't even have time to pee at work, you know you're busy. Gah...

Needless to say, I need the blog to release :)

Style Me Silly, Saturday / Belated What I Wore Wednesday

Pretty sure I cannot even explain to you how much I'm obsessed with these leggings!! I found them on Groupdealz a couple of weeks ago and just had to have them ;) I ended up getting them for $8.99, but they're normally $21.99. In the packaging, they sent me a coupon: $20 off your order of 50 or more PLUS free shipping. Enter code: NEWYEAR20. Let me tell you, these are equivalent to floating on a cloud. They're a silky, stretchy material and are simply heavenly.

Also, this top is a recent purchase from Zulily. I had a coupon, so I scored this soft baby for $8! It's baby soft and is absolutely wonderful.

Sunday Prep Day

I've been contemplating making a *BIG* move in my life, so when I saw this awesome "Quick Flight Carry On" must haves by Jenni from I Spy DIY, I just knew it would be the perfect Sunday tip! I'll keep you posted about the move ;)

Any who...  I always feel like I pack too much in my carry on, so thanks for the tips Jenni!

Book Mark Me Monday

One of my very good friends, and now a fellow reader, is a die-hard Hunger Games fan. I LOVE dystopian novels (I blame grad school on that one)! After finishing The Hunger Games trilogy, we both needed more and low and behold, I found this killer list:

The first series I want to discuss is Divergent. I could not get ENOUGH of these! I blew through these in a total of 2 weeks- yes, all 3 of them! They're enticing and the cliff hangers at the end make your eyes pop out of your head and instantly crave the next one.  I do have to admit though, I wasn't a fan of Allegiant, which is the 3rd book in the series. The build up of 2 was so high and I felt like a drug addict  trying to go sober reading Allegiant- I crashed. My drugs wore off. I finished it and felt incomplete. It didn't end the way I thought it would by any means. I thought I was the only fool that didn't like the 3rd, but after scoping out various discussion boards and random forms of Social Media, come to find out - it's the general consensus that no one liked the third. It's not as captivating as the other 2.

Still, do I recommend them? Absolutely.

Tuesday Boozeday

First off, why isn't it Friday yet?! Between the excitement of the hopefully *BIG* move and operating on warp speed at work, I need a drink now more than ever. Unfortunately, I don't have any form of alcohol or mixer in my apartment, but if I did, I would be indulging in a glass (... or two) of this:

I know, I know, I know berries really aren't "in season" right now, especially in the New England area, but how glorious does this look?! I think the Jingle Jangle Punch and I would pair quite well together right about now. The recipe does say it's best served in a punch bowl, so I may have to hold off on indulging in this until a gathering comes my way. Does this mean I need to plan a party for this weekend? A girl can dream
